HEALTHY. According to the World Health Organization, “A state of full physical, emotional and social well being and not just the absence of illness and infirmity.” Various definitions over the years have also been applied to this concept.

There are many ways to be healthy and one of them is to eat a well-balanced diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and other natural foods that are high in fiber, low in saturated fats and salt. This kind of diet is considered to be healthy if it includes fresh vegetables, whole grains and other natural foods like fish, lean meats and off cuts. This means that when we say “healthy” we do not mean that you have to deprive yourself of anything that is tasty. You should be able to eat everything and in moderation. That would also mean that you do not have to eat everything that tastes bad. You should learn to have more fun with your food rather than become a boring eater.

One of the most important aspects of a healthy diet is good dietary habits. The way you prepare your food matters a lot and so does the seasoning of your foods. Sodium and saturated fats are very bad for your health. They should be reduced or avoided as much as possible.

Fruits and vegetables are very good for health because they are filled with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber. When you eat fresh fruit, you get a lot of vitamins A, C and E as well as other minerals such as potassium, magnesium and phosphorus. Fruits are also very rich in essential fatty acids which are very good for the heart. You should choose a variety of fresh fruit and vegetable and avoid dried or pickled ones.

An extremely healthy diet would be one that has adequate intake of noncommunicable diseases or nutrition. It means that the intake of all calories, including those coming from fat and salt should be appropriate. This is the best way to prevent heart diseases, stroke, type II diabetes and obesity. Salt intake should be limited to less than 2 grams per day for people who are overweight. Also, people who are fond of canned fish can reduce their sodium intake by adding some canned fish in their diet.

You can start regulating your weight by eating nutritious foods, exercising regularly and having a balanced lifestyle. You should always keep in mind that healthy dietary practices are important to stay young and fit. A healthy diet consists of all foods which are low in saturated fats, salt and sugar. You should learn to eat whole grains instead of refined grains. This way, you can prevent chronic diseases and many other problems which can be easily avoided by following healthy dietary practices.
